COWRA'Gold at the end of the Rainbow' The sight of a rainbow never ceases to amaze and enthral those who behold its majestic splendour. The fabled colourful are promises pots of gold at its end. And so it is that the visitor to Cowra experiences a feeling akin to having discovered their own "pot of gold". Cowra, nestled in the beautiful Lachlan Valley, offers a veritable feast for the senses: from the locally grown vegetables, to the farmed trout, silver perch, venison, beef, prime lamb, gourmet smallgoods and wines. Cowra wines under the labels of the Cowra Estate, Rothbury, Richmond Grove, Woodonga Hill, Arrowfield, and Windowrie Estate have won many prestigious awards, resulting in rapidly expanding vineyards.
The district's spectacular scenic trails and vast stretches of native bushland and National Parks encourage visitors to enjoy Nature at her best, while the extensive waterways of Wyangala Waters State Recreation Area provide the ideal escape from life's hustle and bustle.

Cowra's fascinating history includes the excitement of bushrangers, the nostalgia of the steam train era, and the drama of World War II right on its doorstep with the mass breakout of prisoners from the POW camp. The internationally reknowned Japanese Garden pleases the eye and soothes the soul, reflecting the harmony of formal design with the natural elements of water, rocks and bush. Cowra's greatest and most valuable asset, however, is its people. A friendly smile, a nod of acknowledgement, some words of welcome are all part of the fibre which makes the Centre of World Fiendship and home to Australia's World Peace Bell. Cowra is situated 300km south west of Sydney and 200km north west of Canberra, providing easy access to and from both capital cities.
