Double Click on the ICQ icon

If you have set up ICQ for yourself then click on New ICQ#. If you already have an ICQ number then click on Existing ICQ#. Then click the next button.

It should automatically detect your operating system. Also make sure that you have chosen Modem User unless you are on a local area network (LAN) in which case you should choose LAN user. Then click the next button to continue.

Type your e-mail address in the e-mail box. The nickname you would like to use for ICQ. You’re first name in the first name box and your last name in the last name box. Then click the next button.

Type the name of the city your in, the zip (postcode) and state and pick the country. Then type in your age, pick your gender, type your telephone and if you have a web page then type in the web page address (URL) and click the next button.

If you like you can specify your occupation by choosing it from the pull down menu. Also you can choose where you are using ICQ by using the pull down menu on I’m using ICQ. Then click the next button.

Choose an ICQ password and type it in the field marked password and re-type the password in the field marked confirm password. Then click the next button.

If registration is successful then it should display your ICQ#. Then click the next button.

NB: You will need to check your Internet Settings for your location to get your mail settings

Then type in the name of the SMTP server ‘mail.lisp.com.au’

And click the next button.

When it congratulates you click on the done button.

It should bring up two boxes and you will see a yellow box flashing with an explanation mark (!) double click on it.
Then click on the close button.

You can search for somebody by entering an e-mail address in the field name marked E-mail. Then click the next button.

Otherwise you can search then by Nickname, First name, Last name by typing in the appropriate information in the corresponding fields.

Or you can search by ICQ number, by typing the ICQ number in the ICQ# field.

This screen allows you select you preferred option for chatting on the ICQ network.

Select one of the options by clicking on it once.
