How do I unzip a file?

A zip file is an archive in which other files are stored.
Zip files also compress the files inside it, so the Zip file is smaller than the original file or files.

This results in a quicker download, saving you time on the Internet.

Once you have a Zip file, you'll need an Unzip program to open the file, and extract the other files from within it.

There are many available, for different computers. Winzip being the best for PC's, and Stuffit Expander the best for Macintoshes.

You can download both of these programs from the above links.

Once you have installed either of these programs, you simply need to double-click on the Zip file you have downloaded, and it will open up.

Click Extract, and Winzip will extract all the files to a folder of your choice.

If it's an installable program (clue: setup.exe files), you can use the Install button, on Winzip's toolbar, to automatically unzip, run the install, and clean up afterwards.
