Optimising WWW Performance (Proxy)
You must use a proxy server to access the Internet through LiSP Lithgow. By using a proxy server, you are also optimising your WWW performance by accessing a cache. A cache is a disk that contains saved pages and media from the Internet.
Situation- Fred needs to visit the Disney homepage to get some pictures of Tigger, and prints them off. Fred tells Mary where to find the pictures of Tigger, and Mary types in the same URL (Universal Resource Locator). Mary will now be downloading the page from LiSP rather than the USA, saving time.
To ensure the latest version of the page is fetched, the cache will automatically check periodically.
Internet Explorer 3 Users
Click on the "View" menu and select "Options".
Click on "Connect through a proxy server" to tick it. Select "Settings".
Type in proxy.lisp.com.au in HTTP. Type in 3128 for the port. Then select "Use the same proxy for all protocols". Leave "Exceptions" blank.
Your proxy configuration is now configured properly.
