Dear
LiSP Client,
This
is a courtesy warning to all clients using Internet
Banking. There are a number of scams which are rampant
at the moment, regarding emails apparently from Banks
asking people to take some action. Through these
methods the perpetrators are attempting to get your
details and gain access to your bank account. Some
of these scams may include phone numbers in the email
which are NOT the bank.
These
emails are under investigation by the Australian
Federal Police.
We
strongly urge you to take the following precautions.
- DO
NOT RESPOND TO ANY EMAIL WHICH APPEARS TO BE FROM
YOUR BANK.
- TELEPHONE
YOUR BANK AND REPORT THE EMAIL AND FOLLOW THEIR
ADVICE.
- DO
NOT USE THE TELEPHONE NUMBER IN THE EMAIL IF ONE
IS GIVEN. USE A KNOWN NUMBER OR A NUMBER FROM THE
TELEPHONE BOOK.
This
does not mean that Internet Banking itself is unsafe,
but that it is up to you to keep your banking
security details safe. In fact, it is best to treat
ALL email regarding financial transactions with suspicion
and caution.
Regards,
LiSP Systems Administration.
