MaxDIR makes use of sorting, columns, and colors in order to assist you in a multitude of tasks which include dealing with the brain clutter that occurs when typing DIR and pressing Enter. By default, MaxDIR shows you a directory of files, alphabetized and colored by file type, in 4 columns, utilizing the entire screen to show you up to 200 files at a time. It shows available drives,. each file's size, the disk bytes free, disk type, space used by the files listed (cluster consumption), #files, #dirs, percentage of disk full, and more. MaxDIR also allows several command switches so that you can tailor your directory listing to what you would like to see. Also included is the new MaxDIR Config utility, what lets you make up to 25 custom configurations. This version adds the ability to set default #columns, and it uses your custom background color if set. Works on all types of DOS and most emulators, including OS/2, Win95/98/ME/NT/2000, Win3.1, etc.

It is also useful in batch files. Play any audio file supported by Windows, including .MP3 files!
