Description: SocketMaster was created for the purpose of creating your own customised TCP Socket Server. It allows you to specify the listening port, user accounts and custom commands for the server, so that people can retrieve information and text files.
For example;
Your company updates it's sales figures daily in a text file. You want to allow someone from outside to view this text file. You create the Server using Socket Master, and require authentication upon connection.
You then create a custom command such as "sales!" and tell Socket Master where the daily sales figures text file is located. Then all the outsider needs to do is connect to your Socket Master Server via telnet, authorise and then type sales! to retrieve the text file.

Jana is installed on the machine where the analog, ISDN- or DSL-modem is plugged in and acts as the server. On the client side no additional software needed. Jana is also a mail server. It manages mail to and from the Internet for individual users as well as internal mail traffic between users. Each user can have his own Internet mail account with his own provider. An HTTP server is included. It can be used for local testing of webpages or to build an Intranet. Jana supports Perl/CGI and PHP3 / 4 scripting.
Additional functions are an FTP server, DNS forwarder that can act as a DNS server for the LAN and gateways for FTP, Telnet. News and user defined gateways.
Jana is not a router nor does Jana perform perform NAT (Network Address Translation). Jana cannot open ports, so it will only work with software that can be configured to communicate through a proxy / firewall. Some programs can at least be persuaded to cooperate by using sockscap.
