A Natural Wonderland
Within the immediate Orange district there are many delights that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from historic villages, fascinating museums, scenic drives, picnic spots, nature reserves, walking trails, four wheel drive tracks for the enthusiasts, lookouts and numerous streams and waterways where you can fish, swim or waterski.

There are craft shops, galleries, orchards and various farms where you can sample the rural way of life.

From Orange, north towards Ophir are several pretty spots. At The Fourth Crossing a walking track takes in mining history, waterfalls, native flora and fauna.

Ophir, site of the first discovery of payable gold in 1851, is a must. Here you can enjoy the picnic spots, fossicking and camping facilities. There are many reminders of its colourful past.

Heading east from Orange, the Gallery of Minerals is the finest private collection of minerals, gems and fossils in Australia. Further east is Lucknow, site of Australia's richest goldfield, where mining relies and businesses selling crafts, antiques, and skin products can be found.

South of Lucknow the Huntley Berry Farm is where you can pick your own berries or buy jams. Also to the east, Byng church and cemetery are historic gems.

To the south, Millthorpe, which boasts the district's best museum. Carcoar is a must for all visitors. Take a trip back to the 19th Century with its historic homes, shops, churches and public buildings, galleries and antiques. You can spend several hours strolling around the Carcoar area.

Millamolong set on a working property along the Belubula River, is one of several farm holiday properties available in the Orange district.

Cudal, Cargo, Manildra and Molong are rural sercice towns to the west. Molong has a wealth of historic homes, shops and buildings as well as craft and antique outlets, a fine museum and accommodation. There is no better place to stay than Orange. If you stay a day, a week or a lifetime you can enjoy the many attractions the Central West offers.
